I worked solely on and successfully launched the UPF forecast system. This has been an intense journey throughout the first half of the year, but it's exactly what I wanted when I quit my job, pursued a MIT graduate degree mid-career, relocated to the US, and pivoted to tech in a new role. The learning, struggling, failing, decision-making, convincing, difficult conversations, encouraging others, building momentum, challenging myself and the team, communicating, training, negotiating—all of it.
From a product management perspective: deeply understanding the problem space, building and iterating on requirements, securing buy-in across research science, data engineering, business intelligence, and planning teams. From a technical perspective: building data structures and schemas, designing data flow, coding subprocesses, setting up UIs, job schedules, input monitoring, integration with other tools, orchestrating parallel and sequential workflows while meeting execution time requirements and running comparative model tests.
